Mykie E shows
An alchemist of musical genres with 30+ years in the entertainment industry is how Michael “Mykie E” describes himself and craft.
Partnering up with Delano “DJ Delano” Thomas in 1990 he has played an integral part in the development of the internationally acclaimed Renaissance Disco sound system originating out of Kingston Jamaica.
As part of Jamaica’s finest “uptown” sound system crew, Mykie E began DJ life on the sweet-16 and corporate party circuits. This grew into being headliner for stellar outdoor parties namely; Negril Escape, Pip n Ting, The Council and Ras Promotions events, Ruins, Ocho Rios as well as many guest appearances at some of Jamaica’s premium night clubs namely; Margaritaville (Montego Bay), Acropolis (Ocho Rios) Mirage Nightclub (Kingston) to name a few.
Mykie E is often described by his peers as a versatile DJ with a natural ability to fuse his sets seamlessly with an easy vibe. His love of the music and craft has created an appreciation of a many genres of music. Grooving funk, pulsating reggae & dancehall, gyrating soca/calypso, head nodding hip hop/pop, stepping ska and pronounced beat stomping 4 to the floor dance and house.
As a recent transplant to the city of Toronto, Mykie E has brought elements of his signature style as a Renaissance Crew DJ to the “416”. He has connected and collaborated with key local DJs and has immediately immersed in the music culture of the city. Mykie has made guest appearances on the “Party Mix” show on G98.7 radio and affiliated with Movement Culture People for the city’s summer “Pedestrian Sundays” in Kensington Market, Toronto.
